To say that Loving Day is a book about race is like saying Moby-Dick is a book about whales.... [Mat Johnson’s] unrelenting examination of blackness, whiteness and everything in between is handled with ruthless candor and riotous humor.... Even when the novel’s family strife and racial politics are at peak intensity, Johnson’s comic timing is impeccable.... While it’s tempting to call Johnson’s novel timely or even prescient, he clearly longs for a time when it can be called historical. Sadly, we’re not even close. Until we are able to have the kind of frank and open conversations about race that are commonplace in Loving Day but rare in the real world, the myth of a post-racial society will remain a comic book fantasy.

To say that Loving Day is a book about race is like saying Moby-Dick is a book about whales.... [Mat Johnson's]. Identity and what it means to truly love other. Let's fall in love with a hero, shall we? I've tried to separate the list by Military Branch, but sometimes, I couldn't quite tell by the synopsis, so I've made a “miscellaneous” category, too. Whether they be ex-military or still active, if the military was a major part of the hero's life, he (or she) is here. If you know of.

” — Los Angeles Times. “Hilarious and touching new novel about family, identity and what it means to truly love other people...

Johnson is one of the funniest writers in America.... [He] gets at the heart of what it means to be a person—and he does so with more skill, generosity and, yes, love, than just about anyone else writing fiction today. ‘Forgiveness comes later in life, after you’ve created enough disasters of your own,’ Warren observes toward the end of the novel. The disasters make us who we are, and the results can sometimes be amazing—as amazing as this beautiful, triumphant miracle of a book.

Many of you have asked for a Military Romance book list, so here it is! As usual, this is a work in progress as I know there are TONS more books in this genre. I kept postponing this list, to keep adding more, but OMG I’ve just gotta publish it now, and and add to it while it’s live. This should definitely get us started! Plus, there are a few that are freebies today (listed below) and one that I shall be reviewing later today ().

NAVY SEALS: • by Simone Anderson • by Katie Blu • by Rogenna Brewer • by by Rogenna Brewer • by KT Bryan. • by Diane Alberts • by Diane Alberts • by Heather Long • by Heather Long • by Heather Long • by Heather Long • by Beth Andrews • by Karlene Blakemore-Mowie • by Karlene Blakemore-Mowie • by Rogenna Brewer • by Ruby Chevalier • by Callie Croix • by Trish Dollar. I have one to add, it’s called If I Lie by Corrine Jackson, I read it earlier this year (when it was free). I think it is about the Marines, more about a girl who’s “hero” boyfriend is away at war and she cheat’s on him and becomes the town’s “devil” but the whole thing is a lie and when he goes MIA she isn’t sure if she should protect him or tell everyone about the lie.

It has lots of references that had me lost, but if you are familiar with the military, military life or way its a great read. Heart wrenching all around! Here are some of my military favorites that were not mentioned: Stephanie Tyler- Hold Trilogy- navy seals Stephanie Tyler- Shadow Force series- delta force Stephanie Tyler- Seal Trilogy- Blaze Cat Johnson- Red, Hot & Blue Series Rita Henuber- Under Fire & Under Fire:The Admiral- Coast Guard Julie Miller- several military books Beth Kery-The Soldier’s Baby Bargain Kelly Abell- Sealed In Lies & Captured In Lies Claire Ashgrove-A Christmas To Believe In Christina Skye- Seal Series Dahlia Rose- several military romances Cindy Gerard- several M. LOVE Suzanne Brockmann TDD series especially Prince Joe the first one AND Troubleshooters(all are must reads) also online at the library and both wrapped up.

Oh yes, the Troubleshooter series by Suzanne Brockmann. Read in order starting with The Unsung Hero, the series just gets better from there.

It’s Navy Seals (and former Seals). If you like love stories that develop over several books she’s gonna knock your socks off (Sam and Alyssa’s story is the best, but you have to read several books to get the whole thing, and they are hot, wooo weeeee). SB writes fantastic alpha men, often weaves in historical threads in the form of secondary characters and their love stories. Just a fantastic writer. Highly recommend the following: Heather Long’s “Always a Marine” short story series about Veterans and active duty Marines finding love.

Partial proceeds from the 2013 holiday stories will be donated to the “Wounded Warrior Project.” J.M. Madden’s “Lost and Found” series, about Veterans starting a private investigation company and dealing with PTSD. Melissa Schroeder’s “The Santinis,” “The Johnsons,” and “Little Harmless” series, so emotional, edgy and incredibly hot, hot, hot. Laura Kaye’s “Heroes” and “Hard Ink” series.

Tonya Burrows’ “HORNET” and “Wilde Security” series. Rhonda Nelson’s “Ranger Security (Men Out of Uniform – Harlequin)” series.

June Williams. First and foremost let me thank the authors for writting about our men and women in uniform in a very positive light. Secondly let me thank you the readers of such novels, weather intended of not you have been given the chance to discover exactly what lurks in the hearts minds and souls of not only S.O.C. Operators but those in the “regs” aswell. Be it man or woman, navy army air force or marines to often the general public either ignores or trusts by stereotypes what kind of individuals serve our nation in the military.

Most of wich are labeled “damaged” or out right crazy. These books are a start to understanding those who serve and why they choose to do so they may also illistrate exactly how high a cost they pay for the freedoms of the populaceas a whole.

Personal sacrifices few others would or could endure. As holloywood has made most S.O.C.

Operators out to be robotic killing machines (john rambo) or nut jobs bent on a hairbrain scheem it is with great admiration that i thank all of you for giving those who serve a chance, to get to know us in some small yet very meaningful manner. For many generations soldiers weather honorable or ruthless have been left by the wayside for a prince charmming or billionare playboys, Dukes Earls and Marquis. Yet none of them will ever posses the nobility honor compassion or diamond in the ruff romanceof a soldier. Good reading and great hunting in the forrest of love to all Szu. So glad i found you!

I have been looking for a book I read awhile back. Maybe 3 years. Its an ex military group of men who started a security company.

What i remember of the book is. They have a headquarters in the mountains. One guy rents a house from a woman who wotks at her uncles office. She thinks he is a drug dealer because he pays in cash.

He is there to find a kidnapped child, who’s parents are actors. They make contact with the kidnappers and they are Russian mob/mofia ( i think) Ransom is arranged and at the exchange there is a fight. The woman shoots 2 of the guys on dirt bikes and the jeep the child is in rolls over she with two the the team save the child and the guy driving it. One of the team is injured and insists he is take to a hospital hours away because he has the hots for a Doctor there.
