Today is the 3rd day of the 31 Day Photo and Prompt Challenge, thanks to It’s Gravy, Baby! Today we are suppose to post a photo of our favorite TV show. That is a hard one because I like several. One of my most favorite shows is Ghost Hunters which airs on the SyFy Channel Wednesday night at 9:00 PM (EST). Sadly the show has not been as good the past couple of years. It started out great with a lot of cool episodes. Since last year I have not been very impressed.
However I still watch it in hopes that something super cool will happen. I’m not a big TV watcher but there are a few others shows I really love to watch (in no particular order). – Are You Being Served? – This is a BBC (British Television) series that aired from 1972 – 1985.
Most people don’t “get” British humor but I sure do. My mom and grandparents were from the UK. I have relatives in Wales. I love hearing the accents and terminology (“flat” instead of an apartment, “lift” instead of elevator).
Guilty Party (also known as Disney's Guilty Party) is a party/puzzle game for Wii, developed.
One of the characters looks exactly like my grandfather too. – America’s Funniest Home Videos– Sometimes the videos are so hysterically funny that they make me cry with laughter. – Jersey Shore – BEFORE YOU JUDGE ME, my husband and I watch it because we find it funny (and scary) to think that people like that REALLY exist. Surely they cannot be THAT ridiculous? Are there really people out there who do nothing but drink and have sex every day? It scares me to think that these people will procreate some day.
– Two and a Half Men – Some episodes have me laughing so hard that I have to grasp for air. Too bad Charlie Sheen has gone off the deep end BIG TIME and the show is most likely going to be cancelled. – Rules of Engagement – This show doesn’t get as much attention but it’s really funny. I especially love the one liners from Russell (David Spade) and Jeff (Patrick Warburton). – Big Bang Theory – Sheldon (Jim Parsons) is hysterical! – Fact or Fake: Paranormal Files – I love how they disprove paranormal events and every now and then prove that something is real. It’s interesting how they figure out how to recreate things.
– Destination Truth – Sometimes they go to some really cool places. My favorite was when they went to Chernobyl and caught the heat image of the little girl in the window. – Big Love – I guess you’d call this my “guilty pleasure”.
I started watching it one day when there was nothing else to watch and got hooked on it. It’s a night time soap opera.
Last season was horrible. This season is pretty interesting especially because it’s the last season and the whole show has to wrap up in another 3 or 4 episodes. I’m curious to see how it ends. I tend to watch a lot of movies, documentaries and educational programming when I watch TV. What about YOU? What are your favorite shows on TV? Do you have a “guilty pleasure” show?
If you would like to participate in the 31 Day Photo & Prompt Challenge click on the button below to learn more. Have you ever seen the show Cake Boss on TLC before? If not the show is about a chef/baker name Buddy Valastro.
He owns a bakery in New Jersey and his show is about all the unique and interesting cakes he’s asked to make, not only from customers but also his family and friends. I have to admit that I resisted watching his show for a while. I LOVE Ace of Cakes and I felt like I was “cheating” on their show if I watched Cake Boss. Then one day I “cheated” and watched his show and I really enjoyed it. The other day I was watching Cake Boss and immediately after the show was another show called Kitchen Boss. I have never heard of it before so I continued to watch TV to see what it was. I was surprised to see that Kitchen Boss is a new series staring none other then Buddy Valastro.
The episode of Kitchen Boss that I watched showed you how to make,, and. I found it interesting that Buddy calls it gravy and his wife calls it sauce.
That is the same argument my husband and I have had for years. He calls the red stuff you put on spaghetti gravy (the kind you put on meat is brown gravy).
I always grew up calling it sauce. As soon as Buddy said he was making sauce I knew I had to watch. For about 15 years now I have wanted to learn how to make sauce/gravy from scratch, just like my late mother in law used to. She never got around to showing me how to make some of her beloved recipes before she passed away. I regret not learning how to at least make her basic sauce/gravy.
I watched the show and wrote down the ingredients and directions that Buddy gave to his viewers. Buddy’s recipe was similar to my mother in laws, but not exactly. I might have to make a few modifications. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet but I am certainly looking forward to it. Buddy also showed viewers how to make meatballs. I was drooling! They looked so good.
I have never made meatballs from scratch before. I always thought it was too involved.
Now that I have seen how to make them I realize that making meatballs is a piece of cake. I cannot wait to try them too.
My family LOVES meatball sandwiches. It would be nice to whip up some handmade meatballs instead of having to rely on store bought meatballs that are made with other ingredients that I can’t pronounce. Mmmm I am getting hungry just thinking about it! I keep missing other episodes. My family eats dinner around 5:00 – 5:30 so we’re usually enjoying out dinner while Buddy is showing viewers how to make other dinners. Kitchen Boss airs on TLC weekdays at 5:30 PM (EST). Please check with your local TV listings to confirm.
I found that there is a website dedicated to the show too. Here is the link,. Thankfully you can find his recipes on the site too. That helps me out a lot since I can barely read my chicken scratch handwriting. FYI I was not asked to post this information, nor was I compensated for it.
I happened to really enjoy the show and I thought some of my readers might be interested in learning about it. Kimberly Related Posts: • • • • •. There are days I wish my kids were little again. If you are a parent, most especially a mom, I’m sure you remember the time leading up to the birth of your child. Sometimes labor and delivery go “picture perfect” and totally by the book.
Other times labor and delivery can be very chaotic, humorous and sadly, even tragic. When I was pregnant with my daughter she was a day late. The doctor feared she would be over 10 pounds so they induced labor. Being a first time Mom I didn’t know I could have something for the pain so I lied there in total agony for about 8 hours before I finally had the nerve to ask if I could have something for the pain.
The nurses laughed at me, telling me I could have had something from the start. For the record my daughter was 8 pounds, 3 ounces. The birth of our son was not so easy.
At one of my check ups the doctor was concerned our son would be still born and made me rush over to the hospital right away. The hospital I was at only had a skeleton crew working the weekend so I had to be rushed across the river to a regional hospital. Once things had settled down the hospital staff told my husband to go home and get some rest.
They told him that I was most likely going to spend the remainder of my pregnancy in the hospital. At that time I had about two months left until I was due.
No sooner did my husband get home (about an hour from the hospital) he was called and told to rush back (keep in mind he had no sleep). Our son’s heart rate was dropping and they had to do an emergency C-section. They held off until he arrived back at the hospital. Our son was delivered 9 weeks premature.
He was so tiny. He didn’t even sound like a baby when he cried. He sounded like a small kitten meowing. His cry was just a squeaky little sound.
Thankfully our son was OK. He did spend 33 days in the hospital and has had some quirky issues. But he’s fine.
As a result of my pregnancy with my son I am now considered “high risk” and if I was to become pregnant again I would most likely end up on bed rest or spend a good portion of my pregnancy in the hospital. No two pregnancies are alike. So imagine what it must be like to work in the maternity ward at a hospital? Lifetime television has a new series which airs on February 1, 2011 at 10:oo PM ET/PT called One Born Every Minute.
The series takes an in-depth look at life inside the maternity ward. The series is filled at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Forty cameras roll 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to capture all the drama that unfolds in the maternity ward.
From the delivery room, to the operating room, to the front desk, to the nurses’ station, all the drama, humor and overwhelming emotion of childbirth is captured as new lives enter our world. The show certainly sounds interesting. I’m sure it will bring back a lot of memories for those who have already experienced childbirth, or captivate those who have not yet had the opportunity to witness childbirth.

This book goes “above and beyond” and offers readers more then just images that jump from its pages. This very special and unique pop-up book features exquisite original artwork from Andrew Williamson.
He was the concept artist for all eight Harry Potter movies. Its hard to believe that there will be eight movies once they have all been released. This artwork found in the pages of this book are very elaborate and its clear to see that a tremendous amount of effort was put into each page to provide great detail, right down to the peaks and valleys in the lake below Hogwarts (or is it a river? Un Venerdi Nero Suvaril. ).
I can exress enough just how detailed, and large, the pop-ups are. What impressed me the most was how well everything lies flat when you turn the page. There are so many things popping up on each page that it amazes me how well they integrate with one another so that all the demension lie perfectly flat. These are large pop-ups too! Each page features a special location from the various Harry Potter stories. Some of the pop-up pages include Hogwarts (which is HUGE!), Magical Creatures, Triwizard Tournament Diagon Alley. There are even mini pop-ups, flaps you can turn and open and other interactive features on each page.
You’ll find things like Hagrid’s hut, Hedwig the owl in her cage, the shops on Diagon Alley, Fluffy, Harry, Ron and so much more! Throughout the book you’ll find fascinating facts about the Harry Potter movies.
The book goes into great details about some of the behind-the-scenes stories. I learned things that I have never heard of before about the series. This book would be great for those who enjoy Harry Potter trivia too. I bet JK Rowlings loves this book too. It gives readers a fun, 3-D view inside the wizardly world of Harry Potter. I’m giving this astonishing book two thumbs up. Not only does it go into great detail about the making of the Harry Potter movies but the artwork and incredible details on each pop-up page is unlike anything I have ever seen on a pop-up book before. The Harry Potter Pop-up book is available at many book retail locations such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Kimberly *I received a free product sample in order to do this review.
